0.7734 troy oz .900 1888 Almost Unc

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1888 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in San Francisco, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in an Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its original engraving. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word "Liberty." This central figure is encircled by the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum," thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1888 year of issue. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding both an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing peace and readiness. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions "United States of America" and "One Dollar." The national motto, "In God We Trust," is positioned above the eagle, while the "S" mint mark below the wreath identifies its origin at the San Francisco Mint.
