0.7734 troy oz .900 1889 PCGS

Struck in 1889, this silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, composed of 90 percent precious metal. As part of a series that circulated across the United States for close to eight decades, this issue carries a rich legacy of daily commerce from the late nineteenth century. On the obverse side, a profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, with her hair band displaying her name. Framing this central portrait are thirteen stars, the year of issue, and the Latin motto meaning out of many, one. The reverse side displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings, grasping arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding the national bird are the inscriptions denoting the country, the face value of one dollar, and the phrase expressing trust in God. Positioned just above the denomination is the distinctive double C mint mark, indicating this piece was produced at the historic Carson City Mint in Nevada.
