The obverse face of the dollar features the iconic profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with the word Liberty, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The traditional Latin motto, E Pluribus Unum, is displayed along the upper rim, while the 1889 year of issue is stamped at the bottom.
