The 1889 Morgan Dollar stands as a classic representation of late nineteenth century American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this particular issue does not bear a mint mark, distinguishing it from those struck at branch mints. The coin is composed of 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 0.900. Throughout its history, the Morgan Dollar series circulated actively in commerce for a span of about 80 years, transitioning from a common medium of exchange into a highly appreciated historical artifact. On the obverse side, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word Liberty. This central figure is encircled by thirteen stars, the year of manufacture 1889, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. The reverse displays a powerful bald eagle clutching both an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing peace and readiness. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar, along with the national motto In God We Trust written in Gothic script. This specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of its original engraving.
