Minted in Philadelphia, the coin does not bear a mint mark, which distinguishes it from those produced at branch facilities during the same year. It contains 0.77344 ounces of silver with a fineness of 0.900, and this particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63), preserving its original details for modern observers to appreciate. The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, and her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her profile are thirteen stars, the year 1889, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. This side of the coin captures a traditional symbol of freedom in sharp, certified detail. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons, representing both strength and peace.
