Struck in Philadelphia during the late nineteenth century, this 1889 silver dollar is a remarkable survivor from a mintage of 21,726,000 pieces. Crafted with 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. It measures 38.1 millimeters across and has a thickness of 3.1 millimeters, giving it a substantial presence in the hand. The coin showcases the artistry of George T. Morgan. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty is adorned with thirteen stars and the word LIBERTY.
