The 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar is a striking example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this piece contains 0.77344 troy ounces of precious metal. This specific specimen has been professionally graded as Mint State 64, indicating a high level of preservation with its original luster and details remaining remarkably sharp. The obverse side of the coin presents a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word "Liberty" nestled in her hair. Encircling her portrait are the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum", the 1889 year of issue, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a heraldic bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, grasping an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows symbolizing strength. The inscriptions surrounding the central eagle design include "United States of America" and the denomination "One Dollar". The national motto, "In God We Trust", is positioned directly above the eagle's head, completing this historic design.
