The 1889 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Minted in the late nineteenth century, this specific coin was struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, which is denoted by the O mintmark. Out of a total mintage of 11,875,000 pieces for this year and location, this survivor has been certified in About Uncirculated 53 (AU-53) condition, showing only light wear on its high points while retaining much of its original luster. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse displays the classic profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, with the date 1889 struck at the bottom. On the reverse, an eagle holds an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the face value, ONE DOLLAR.
