The 1889 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in New Orleans, this piece carries the distinctive O mint mark, signaling its origin from the historic southern branch mint. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, the coin represents a time when precious metal currency circulated daily across the United States. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom.
