1889-O Morgan Dollar VG/VF
Struck in 1889 at the historic New Orleans Mint, this silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. This particular issue had a total production of 11,875,000 pieces, each bearing the characteristic "O" mint mark on the reverse to designate its Southern origin. The obverse features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1889, and the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR," along with the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned directly above the bird's head.
