1889-S Morgan Dollar XF

In 1889, the San Francisco Mint produced a remarkably small run of Morgan silver dollars, striking only 700,000 of these historic coins. This specific issue is highly appreciated by enthusiasts for its scarcity compared to the millions of dollars struck at other mint facilities during the same era. Minted in 90 percent pure silver, each coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1889, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing peace and readiness. The eagle is encircled by a wreath, with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR. Above the eagle, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST is displayed. Just below the wreath, the distinctive S mint mark identifies this coin as a product of the historic San Francisco facility. This specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the clear details of its classic nineteenth-century design.
