In 1890, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of just 75,940 Liberty Gold Double Eagle coins. Strikingly, these pieces carry no mint mark, a signature of the main Philadelphia facility. This particular specimen has survived the decades in an extraordinary state of preservation, earning a high certified grade of Mint State 64 (MS-64). Crafted from 0.900 fine gold, this twenty-dollar coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features the classic profile of Liberty, encircled by stars, with the date 1890 positioned at the base. On the reverse, the design showcases a heraldic eagle accompanied by the national mottoes, IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, TWENTY DOLLARS.
