Minted in the late nineteenth century, this 1890 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Produced at the historic New Orleans Mint, as indicated by the O mint mark, this coin is crafted from 0.900 fine silver and contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. For nearly eight decades, Morgan Dollars circulated widely as everyday currency across the United States, serving as a staple of daily commerce. The obverse side of the coin presents a profile of Liberty wearing a traditional Phrygian cap. A band in her hair is inscribed with the word Liberty, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The Latin motto E Pluribus Unum and the 1890 year of issue are also clearly displayed on this side. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding an olive branch alongside arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America and One Dollar, accompanied by the motto In God We Trust. This specific specimen has survived in Extra Fine condition, preserving the distinct details of its historic engraving.
