1890-S Morgan Dollar XF
The 1890 Morgan Dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage, minted during a period when these large silver pieces circulated widely. Produced at the San Francisco Mint, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The Morgan Dollar series itself served as active currency in the United States for roughly 80 years, making it one of the most enduring coin designs in the nation's history. On the obverse side, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Encircling her portrait are the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1890 date of issue. The reverse side showcases a powerful bald eagle clutching both an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing peace and readiness. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the face value, ONE DOLLAR. The national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, is positioned directly above the eagle, while the 'S' mint mark below the wreath identifies its origin at the San Francisco facility.
