During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Principality of Monaco issued a magnificent gold coin with a face value of 100 Francs. Struck at the historic Paris Mint (Monnaie de Paris), these pieces carry the "A" mint mark, representing a fascinating collaboration between the sovereign Mediterranean principality and the French minting authority. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Prince Albert I of Monaco, surrounded by his name and title. On the reverse, the design showcases the detailed coat of arms of Monaco alongside the denomination written as "Cent Francs" and the year of issue. The Latin motto "Deo Juvante" is also integrated into the design, reflecting the traditional guiding principle of the principality.
