0.7734 troy oz .900 1891 MS-62 (GSA-Packaging)

The year 1891 marked a notable chapter for the Carson City Mint in Nevada, where this historic silver dollar was struck. Bearing the famous 'CC' mint mark, this coin represents a bygone era of American coining. This specific specimen has survived the decades in remarkable condition, earning a certified grade of Mint State 62 and remaining housed in its historic General Services Administration (GSA) holder. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word 'Liberty'. This side also displays the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum', the 1891 year of manufacture, and a border of thirteen stars symbolizing the founding colonies. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The reverse of the dollar features a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding this central image are the inscriptions 'United States of America' and the face value, 'One Dollar'. The national motto, 'In God We Trust', is positioned just above the eagle, completing a design that remains one of the most recognized in numismatic history.
