0.7734 troy oz .900 1891 Almost Unc

The 1891-S Morgan Dollar is a fascinating specimen of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the historic San Francisco Mint, this silver dollar features the distinctive 'S' mint mark on its reverse. Containing 0.77344 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, the coin represents a time when precious metal currency was a staple of daily commerce in the United States. On the obverse, the design showcases a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of freedom, adorned with a hair band inscribed with the word 'Liberty'. The year 1891 is clearly struck at the bottom of the profile. The reverse of the coin displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch, representing peace, and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing readiness and strength. This particular issue had a mintage of 1,618,000 pieces, and examples surviving in Almost Uncirculated condition allow observers to appreciate the fine details of this iconic design.
