1892 Indian Head Cent AU
The 1892 Indian Head Cent represents a classic era of United States minor coinage. Struck in a durable alloy of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent composed of tin and zinc, this coin has survived in an impressive Almost Uncirculated state. This preservation allows observers to appreciate the fine details of James B. Longacre's engraving work just as it appeared in the late nineteenth century. On the obverse, the design features a depiction of Liberty adorned in a traditional Native American feather headdress. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" encircle this central figure, with the year 1892 anchored at the bottom. This imagery offers a fascinating glimpse into the artistic themes chosen for American currency during this period. The reverse of the coin is framed by a detailed wreath, with a small shield positioned at the very top. Nestled at the bottom of the wreath are arrows secured by a bow. At the center of this foliage, the denomination "ONE CENT" is clearly inscribed, completing a design that remains one of the most recognizable in the history of American coinage.
