Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1892 Morgan silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in United States coining history. Minted at the southern facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a composition that is 90 percent pure. Having survived the decades in Almost Uncirculated 50 condition, it retains much of its original detail and luster, offering a clear window into the craftsmanship of the era. The obverse of the coin showcases a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, and the word LIBERTY is clearly inscribed upon her hair band. The year 1892 is struck at the bottom of the design, anchoring the piece in its historical timeframe. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the national bird holds a symbolic combination of an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The New Orleans origin is confirmed by the letter O mint mark, which is positioned just above the face value of ONE DOLLAR. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST surround the central eagle design.
