0.7734 troy oz .900 1892 MS-64 (NGC)

Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1892 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted with a purity of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Out of an original mintage of 2,744,000 pieces, this particular specimen has survived in an exceptional state of preservation, certified by professional numismatists at a high-grade Mint State 64. The obverse design presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word Liberty. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars, the year 1892, and the traditional Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outstretched wings, holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing nation, United States of America, the denomination of One Dollar, and the national motto, In God We Trust. A small O mint mark below the wreath identifies its origin from the Southern minting facility.
