1892-S Morgan Dollar Good

0.7734 troy oz .900 1892 Good

This 1892 silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in late nineteenth-century American coining. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this piece carries the distinct 'S' mint mark on its reverse, showing its origin from the busy western facility. Minted with 0.7734 troy ounces of actual silver content, the coin has a purity of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, a standard alloy of the era. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a band displaying her name. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1892, and the Latin motto meaning 'Out of many, one.' On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread, grasping both arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The eagle is framed by the country of issue, the face value of 'One Dollar,' and the national motto 'In God We Trust.' This particular specimen has survived in Good condition, showing honest wear from its time circulating through the American economy.
