The 1892-S Morgan Dollar represents a fascinating era of American currency, serving as a standard medium of exchange during a time when silver coins circulated widely. Minted in San Francisco, this piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The Morgan Dollar series as a whole holds a significant place in monetary history, remaining a part of everyday transactions for nearly eight decades. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. This central portrait is encircled by the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1892 year of issue. The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping arrows and an olive branch in its talons. This central image is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, along with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The S mint mark, located just below the wreath on the reverse, identifies its origin at the San Francisco Mint. This particular coin survives in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once active in daily commerce.
