1893-A France Gold 20 Francs Angel MS-63 PCGS
This French 20 Francs gold piece, struck in 1893 at the Paris Mint, is a beautiful example of late nineteenth-century European coinage. Minted during a period spanning from 1871 to 1898, this coin is composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.1867 troy ounces of precious metal. It has been certified in Mint State 63 condition, preserving the intricate details of its historic artwork. The obverse displays a standing winged figure, often referred to as the Angel, engaged in writing the Constitution on a tablet. This central figure is flanked by a rooster on one side and a fasces on the other, creating a powerful symbolic composition envisioned by the artist Augustin Dupré. On the reverse, the coin's face value of 20 Francs and the 1893 date are framed by a delicate wreath. Circling this central design is the famous French national motto, LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE, representing the core values of the Republic. The letter A is also present, indicating its production at the historic Paris minting facility.
