The 1893 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this particular issue is distinguished by the absence of a mint mark on its reverse. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, this specimen has survived the decades in exceptional form, earning a grade of Almost Uncirculated-58. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap, with her hair band clearly displaying the word LIBERTY. Framing her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1893, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength. Above the eagle, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed, while the surrounding legends identify the nation as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and denote the face value as ONE DOLLAR.
