The 1893 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic representative of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular issue is distinguished by the absence of a mint mark, a traditional feature for coins produced at the main facility during this era. Each coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal. On the obverse, the design showcases a left-facing portrait of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, and the portrait is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1893, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse features a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Surrounding the central image are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DOLLAR, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is positioned directly above the eagle.
