1893-O $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle MS-62 NGC

0.2419 troy oz .900 1893 NGC

In 1893, the United States Mint in New Orleans struck a limited run of gold half eagles. Out of a total mintage of just 110,000 pieces, very few have survived in high-grade condition. This particular five-dollar gold coin has been certified in Mint State 62 (MS-62), making it a remarkable survivor from a bygone era of American coinage. Crafted from 0.900 fine gold with a metal content of 0.2419 troy ounces, the coin features the classic Liberty design. The obverse displays the profile of Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY, positioned above the date of 1893. On the reverse, the distinctive 'O' mint mark identifies its origin at the New Orleans Mint, adding a layer of geographic intrigue to this pre-1933 gold treasure.
