In 1893, the New Orleans Mint produced a run of silver dollars that would circulate as part of the daily commerce of a growing nation. This specific Morgan dollar, graded in Very Good condition, carries the physical evidence of its long journey through the pockets and cash drawers of late nineteenth century America. For nearly eight decades, these hefty silver pieces served as a standard medium of exchange across the United States, and survivors like this one offer a tangible connection to that bustling era. The obverse features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band displaying the word LIBERTY. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars, the date 1893, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Each coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 90 percent. On the reverse side, a bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The design is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, alongside the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. Positioned just below the wreath on the reverse is the letter O, the distinctive mark of the historic New Orleans minting facility.
