The 1893-O Morgan Silver Dollar represents a fascinating moment in late nineteenth-century American coining. Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this specific issue is highly notable for its remarkably low production run, with a mintage of only 300,000 pieces. This low mintage makes surviving examples particularly intriguing to explore, especially when they remain in an Extra Fine state of preservation. Crafted from 0.900 fine silver and containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin displays the iconic artwork of the Morgan series. The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which bears the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her profile are thirteen stars, the year 1893, and the classic Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse of the coin showcases a powerful bald eagle clutching both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. Arcing above the eagle is the motto "In God We Trust", while the outer inscriptions identify the issuing nation as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the face value as ONE DOLLAR.
