The 1893-S Morgan Silver Dollar represents one of the most famous issues from the San Francisco Mint. With a remarkably low mintage of just 77,000 pieces, each surviving specimen carries an air of mystery and survival. This particular coin is preserved in Very Good condition, showcasing the honest wear of a coin that likely circulated during a dynamic period in American history. On the obverse, the design presents Lady Liberty facing left, adorned with a Phrygian cap. A band in her hair clearly displays the word "Liberty." Surrounding her portrait are the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum," the 1893 date of issue, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The reverse of the coin displays a powerful bald eagle clutching both an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing a desire for peace but a readiness for defense. The inscriptions "United States of America" and "One Dollar" frame the eagle, while the motto "In God We Trust" is positioned directly above.
