1894 $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle PR-65+ DCAM+ PCGS

0.1209 troy oz .900 1894 PCGS

In 1894, the Philadelphia Mint produced an incredibly small run of proof gold quarter eagles, totaling a mere 122 pieces. This extremely limited mintage makes surviving examples of this issue exceptionally scarce. This particular specimen is certified in an extraordinary Proof 65 Plus Deep Cameo condition, highlighting the intense contrast between the frosted design elements and the mirror-like fields. Struck in 0.900 fine gold with a total gold content of 0.1209 troy ounces, the coin features the classic Liberty head design on the obverse. Lady Liberty is depicted facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars with the date 1894 positioned below. The reverse displays a majestic eagle with a shield on its breast, encircled by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination 2 1/2 D.
