The 1894 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkably scarce issue within this celebrated United States series. Struck during an era of shifting economic tides, the Philadelphia Mint produced a mere 110,000 of these silver coins. Because they were minted in Philadelphia, these pieces bear no mint mark, leaving the space below the reverse wreath empty. The obverse design features the profile of Liberty facing left, adorned with a Phrygian cap. A band nestled in her hair is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY". Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1894, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons to symbolize peace and readiness. The national motto "In God We Trust" is inscribed above the eagle, while the legends "United States of America" and "One Dollar" frame the entire design. Each coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, and this particular specimen survives in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation.
