The 1894 Morgan silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in American numismatic history. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue is notable for its remarkably low mintage of just 110,000 pieces. Unlike its sister mints of the era, the Philadelphia facility did not place a mint mark on its coins, leaving the space below the wreath on the reverse blank. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY" while the surrounding rim features the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" alongside thirteen stars representing the original colonies and the 1894 date. This particular specimen is certified in Extra Fine 45 condition, showing the enduring details of this classic nineteenth-century engraving. The reverse displays a proud bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Encircled by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR," the eagle is also crowned by the motto "In God We Trust" in gothic script. Composed of 90 percent silver with 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, this coin is a testament to the artistry of late Victorian-era American coinage.
