This 1894 silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in American coining history, originating from the historic southern mint in New Orleans. Struck with a composition containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, this specific piece has survived more than a century and is officially graded in About Uncirculated condition. The obverse side presents a profile of Liberty, who wears a traditional Phrygian cap. Look closely at her hair band to find the word "LIBERTY" finely detailed. Encircling this central portrait is the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," the 1894 year of production, and a ring of thirteen stars that symbolize the original colonies of the nation. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons.
