Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1894 Morgan silver dollar represents a fascinating era of American coining history. Produced at the southern branch mint in New Orleans, Louisiana, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. Having survived over a century, this particular specimen is certified in Extremely Fine 45 condition, preserving the intricate details of its historic design. The obverse side displays a left-facing portrait of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. This central figure is encircled by the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum, the year of issue 1894, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The word Liberty is also inscribed upon her band. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding arrows and an olive branch within a wreath. The inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar frame the eagle, while the motto In God We Trust is positioned above its head. The O mint mark, indicating its origin at the New Orleans Mint, is located on the reverse side beneath the wreath.
