0.7734 troy oz .900 1894 Very Good

The 1894 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, mixed in a 90 percent silver alloy. Its survival in Very Good condition allows us to appreciate the enduring details of a design that circulated widely during the late nineteenth century. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is shown wearing a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word "Liberty," and the portrait is encircled by the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum," the 1894 year of issue, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping arrows and an olive branch in its talons. This central image is framed by the inscriptions "United States of America" and "One Dollar." The national motto, "In God We Trust," is positioned above the eagle, while the "S" mint mark below the wreath confirms its origin from the San Francisco minting facility.
