The 1894 silver dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint stands as a compelling example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in 0.900 fine silver, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Surviving today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it offers a remarkably clear look at the artistry and craftsmanship of the era. On the obverse, the design presents a profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, which is decorated with cotton balls and ears of wheat. The year 1894 is inscribed below her portrait. The reverse features a powerful bald eagle with its wings fully spread. In its talons, the eagle grasps a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The San Francisco 'S' mint mark is located on this side, identifying its origin at the western mint.
