0.0000 troy oz 1895 Very Fine

The 1895 Indian Head Cent is a fascinating artifact from late nineteenth-century America. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin is composed of a traditional alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent made of tin and zinc. It represents a long-running era of United States minor coinage that circulated widely during a time of rapid national growth. Designed by James B. Longacre, the obverse features a profile representation of Liberty wearing an ornate feather headdress, a design that became an iconic symbol of American currency. Surrounding this central figure is the inscription of the issuing nation, along with the 1895 year of manufacture clearly visible at the bottom. The reverse of the coin presents a clean and classic design. The words ONE CENT are boldly featured in the center, framed by a decorative wreath. This example survives in Very Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that passed through many hands over a century ago, yet preserving the distinct details of its historic engraving.
