1896 Morgan Dollar AU
The 1896 Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a striking representative of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, this piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, the coin retains much of its original luster and crisp detail, allowing observers to appreciate the artistry of its design just as it appeared more than a century ago. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY", nestled among cotton bolls and wheat sheaves. Encircling this central portrait is the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1896 date of issue. The reverse of the coin features a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread wide, grasping an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows symbolizing strength. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the "ONE DOLLAR" denomination. Suspended above the eagle's head is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST", rendered in elegant Gothic script.
