0.7734 troy oz .900 1896 Brilliant Unc

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this 1896 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, with a total purity of 90 percent. Out of a total mintage of 9,976,000 struck for this year and location, this specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the original luster and fine details of its nineteenth-century engraving. The obverse side presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap with a band displaying her name. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the traditional Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum", and the 1896 date of issue. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with wings spread, grasping an olive branch and arrows to symbolize both peace and readiness. The inscriptions surrounding the eagle read "United States of America" and "One Dollar", while the motto "In God We Trust" is positioned directly above the bird.
