The 1896 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in New Orleans, this specimen contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The coin has been certified in About Uncirculated 53 condition, preserving the intricate details of its late nineteenth-century engraving. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a band displaying her name. This central portrait is encircled by the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum," thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1896 year of issue. The reverse side displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding this central design are the inscriptions "United States of America" and "One Dollar," along with the motto "In God We Trust." Collectors can locate the "O" mint mark representing the New Orleans Mint on this reverse side, positioned just beneath the wreath.
