Dating back to 1897, this United States silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The Morgan Dollar series circulated for roughly 80 years, becoming one of the most recognizable coins in the nation's history. This particular specimen is composed of 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 0.900. Because it was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not bear a mint mark, making its clean surfaces a direct reflection of the main minting facility's work during the late nineteenth century. The obverse of the coin showcases a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word Liberty. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1897, and the traditional Latin motto E Pluribus Unum.
