0.7734 troy oz .900 1897 Extra Fine

The 1897 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage, serving as a staple of daily commerce for nearly eight decades. Struck in 90 percent pure silver, this specimen contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Its survival in Extra Fine condition allows us to appreciate the detailed artistry that once passed from hand to hand in the late nineteenth century. On the obverse, the design showcases the profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. A close look reveals the word "Liberty" delicately placed upon her hair band. Framing her portrait are the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum," the 1897 year of manufacture, and thirteen small stars that pay tribute to the initial colonies of the nation. The reverse side presents a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch and a clutch of arrows in its talons. This central motif is encircled by the inscriptions "United States of America" and the face value of "One Dollar." Positioned directly above the eagle is the traditional national motto, "In God We Trust."
