1897-O Morgan Dollar AU-53 PCGS
This 1897 silver dollar represents a fascinating era of American coinage, struck at the historic New Orleans Mint. Carrying the distinctive 'O' mint mark positioned just above the denomination on the reverse, this coin has been certified in About Uncirculated 53 (AU-53) condition. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, offering a tangible connection to the late nineteenth century. The obverse of the coin presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. Surrounding this central figure are thirteen stars, the year of issue 1897, and the traditional Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. The word 'Liberty' is also clearly visible on her headpiece. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding an olive branch alongside a cluster of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The inscriptions on this side include 'United States of America', the face value of 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust' set in gothic script above the eagle.
