During the transition into the twentieth century, Mexico produced a silver Peso featuring some of its most enduring national symbols. Struck in 0.903 fine silver, this coin contains 0.7859 troy ounces of precious metal. The piece is recognized by collectors in Extra Fine condition, showcasing the detailed artistry of the era's coinage, cataloged as KM#409.2. On one side, the coin displays the Mexican coat of arms, which portrays a golden eagle perched atop a cactus while devouring a snake. The opposite side features the Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of freedom, inscribed with the word LIBERTAD. This side also displays the denomination of 1 Peso, the mint mark, the year of production, and the assayer's initials. Additionally, the silver purity is noted on the surface through the traditional inscription 10 Ds. 20 Gs., representing the historical measurement system of the period.
