Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1898 silver dollar showcases the classic artistry of late nineteenth-century American coinage. The obverse presents a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band displaying her name, surrounded by the Latin motto meaning out of many, one, thirteen symbolic stars, and the 1898 date. On the reverse, a bald eagle holds an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. This central image is accompanied by the inscriptions denoting the nation, the face value of one dollar, and the traditional motto expressing trust in God. Composed of 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.77344 troy ounces of precious metal and has been graded Mint State 63 (MS-63).
