This 1899 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage, belonging to a celebrated series that circulated actively for about 80 years. Struck in Philadelphia, this particular coin does not display a mint mark, which distinguishes it from those produced at branch mints. Each of these historic silver pieces contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 0.900. The obverse design presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. A close look reveals the word Liberty inscribed upon her hair band. Surrounding this central portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum, and the 1899 year of issue. This example has survived in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted holding both arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing strength and peace. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions United States of America and the denomination, One Dollar. The national motto, In God We Trust, is also clearly visible above the eagle, completing a design that remains a favorite among those exploring the history of United States currency.
