Struck in the final year of the nineteenth century, this 1899 silver dollar from the San Francisco Mint showcases the classic artistry of late Victorian-era American coinage. Minted with 0.7734 troy ounces of silver at a purity of 0.900, the coin has survived in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original luster and sharp details just as it looked when it first emerged from the coining press. The obverse features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. A band nestled in her hair clearly displays the word 'Liberty'. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the 1899 date of issue, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch, representing the dual themes of strength and peace. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions 'United States of America', 'One Dollar', and the motto 'In God We Trust'. Positioned below the eagle is the 'S' mint mark, indicating its origin from the historic San Francisco Minting facility.
