1900 Indian Head Cent MS-65 PCGS (Red/Brown)

The turn of the twentieth century brought with it this remarkable 1900 Indian Head Cent, a copper coin that has survived more than a century with its original details beautifully intact. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue bears no mint mark, which was the standard practice for the facility at the time. Out of a total mintage of 66,831,502, very few specimens remain in such an exceptional state of preservation. This particular coin has been certified at a high grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65) with a Red and Brown designation. This classification indicates that the coin still retains a significant portion of its original mint luster and color, showing a captivating blend of warm coppery red and deep brown tones across its surfaces. On the obverse, the legend reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" surrounding the central portrait, which features a crown of feathers with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed across the band. The year 1900 is clearly struck at the bottom. The reverse side is dedicated to the simple yet bold denomination, "ONE CENT", framed by a traditional wreath. This coin offers a vivid glimpse into the artistry of American base-metal coinage from the dawn of the 1900s.
