1900 Morgan Dollar MS-63 PCGS

0.7734 troy oz .900 1900 MS-63 (PCGS)

The turn of the twentieth century brought a sense of progress and change to the United States, and this 1900 silver dollar represents that transition. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin bears no mint mark, distinguishing it from those produced at branch mints. For nearly eight decades, the Morgan dollar series served as a staple of daily commerce, passing through the hands of generations of Americans before transitioning into a celebrated historical artifact. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. Her hair band is inscribed with the word 'Liberty,' while the surrounding rim features the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum,' thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1900 date of issue. The reverse displays a heraldic bald eagle holding both an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing a desire for peace but a readiness for defense. This central image is framed by the inscriptions 'United States of America,' 'One Dollar,' and the motto 'In God We Trust.' This particular specimen is preserved in a notable state of conservation, certified as Mint State 63 (MS-63). Minted with a composition of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Its lustrous surfaces and crisp details offer an authentic glimpse into the craftsmanship of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century American coinage.
