This silver dollar from the turn of the twentieth century represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in 1900 at the Philadelphia facility, this specimen carries no mint mark, which distinguishes it from those struck at branch mints. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 90 percent. Having achieved a certified grade of Mint State 64 (MS-64), the coin retains its original luster and sharp details, making it an exceptional survivor of its era. The obverse features a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. Her hair band is inscribed with the word Liberty, and the portrait is encircled by thirteen stars, the date 1900, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. This side of the coin captures the artistic spirit of late nineteenth-century American design. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, holding an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. This central image is surrounded by the inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar. The national motto, In God We Trust, is positioned directly above the eagle, completing a design that remains one of the most recognized and celebrated in numismatic history.
